Juicing Part 2

Well, let’s just delve into it.

 

I started juicing and fell of the wagon. Then I jumped back on the wagon only to fall off again. No worries, this is a completely human response to changes to our every day routine. We all fall and we all have to pick ourselves back up again.

 

First time I juiced, I could not drink what I made. It was all chunky and I had a hard time with it. I explored YouTube and found out what I was doing wrong…….. After juicing your veggies and fruits, you have to strain it through a strainer/cheese cloth/muslin bag. I tried it again and this time strained it. OH YES!!!! That was much better and I could drink it.

 

I tried several recipes with success and failures. I will provide the better recipes for you to try. Some tips……. Don’t add too much ginger root…… oh boy that was harsh!!

 

So, when I finally did my juicing for 3 days in a row, I felt hydrated, I felt energized, I felt re-charged, and well rested. I want to be clear that this choice to add juicing was for the added benefit of additional fruits and vegetables in my diet. However, I do support adding juicing to feel more rested and to help your skin, if you struggle with hormonal acne. 

 

DAY ONE I explored recipes that I though would taste good, just to get my feet wet. I didn’t have any other obligations, so I could experiment with the recipes. I woke up in the morning and started sorting all my supplies and proceeded to juice my produce. I made three different recipes and planned to drink a portion of each for the next three days.  I felt fine all day. Again, I added the juicing to my diet of smaller portions.

 

DAY TWO I woke up, and my skin seemed fuller. This seemed like a result of being more hydrated. This put a huge smile on my face, and I went about my day with a skip in my step. 

 

DAY THREE becoming more routine. I grabbed the last juices in the fridge and finished them.

THE AFTERMATH Perhaps it was because my mind was just elsewhere the last few days, but the juicing was not impossible. I definitely had intense moments of weakness anytime I craved bad food. However, after just 1 day I noticed that my skin looked brighter and my face was less sunken. I slept really well and my energy levels were increased. I don't usually step on the scale, but after 3 days, I was down 2 pounds.  I care less about my weight and more about how I feel, and I felt really good after the 3 day juicing. I felt accomplished, for finally sticking through it for three straight days. I felt clear-headed, ready to take on the rest of the week, and just overall very happy. Would I ever do it again? Absolutely, I already started today.

 

Green Aid

1 large Pomegranate

2 medium apples

3 stalks of celery

1 whole lemon

4 cups spinach

 

Any-Time

2 medium apples

2 stalks celery

1 whole cucumber

3 handfuls of spinach

½ Lemon

2 whole oranges

1 handful parsley

 

Beets and Treats

1 Beet root

¼ cabbage head

3 medium carrots

½ lemon

1 whole orange

1 mango

1 handful spinach

 

Mean Green

4 cups spinach (or more)

2 cucumbers

8 celery sticks

4 apples

1 lemon

2 in ginger root
